Golan off to Belgium

Golan off to Belgium

01 January 2008 - 18:05

Omer Golan, Israel’s matchwinner against Russia in the Euro 2008 qualifiers, has joined Belgian side Lokeren for around £1.25 million. The Israeli striker wanted a move to the Premiership, but Belgian football appears to be his preferred option.

  • “I am happy to be going to Belgium but I would have preferred to play in England,” said Golan. However, both the player and Maccabi have made it clear to Lokeren that they will be open to offers from England before the transfer window opens in January.

Golan had been linked to a move to Middlesbrough, but a deal failed to materialise.
