Laursen, Mellberg talk future

02 January 2008 - 21:35

Aston Villa defenders Martin Laursen and Olof Mellberg are ready to discuss their futures with the club. Mellberg is wanted by Juventus whilst Laursen has been in brilliant form and Lyon are monitoring the defender.

  • Chelsea ready to pay €75m for Eduardo Camavinga
  • Chelsea planning move for Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli

  • Denmark’s Laursen and Sweden international Mellberg, who is also being linked with a move to Juventus, are out of contract at Villa Park in the summer but manager Martin O’Neill is keen to keep the experienced duo.

"When we have got the Manchester United game (FA Cup Third Round at the weekend) out of the way, then we will meet up again,” said Laursen.

"I told my agent to take care of everything. I trust him - I just want to concentrate on my football."

Mellberg said: “The focus has been on the matches, but I am sure that Villa and I will talk."
