Shaqiri was expected to seek fresh pastures elsewhere with the Nerazzurri lining up his replacement.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport cites that the San Siro outfit are likely to keep hold of the former Bayern star after they ended their interest in Wolfsburg attacker Ivan Perisic.

The 23-year-old recently opted against a move to Premier League side Stoke City.
