Southampton sign Oriol Romeu

Southampton have landed the services of midfielder Oriol Romeu from Chelsea for a fee of around &pound3.5m.

Romeu becomes the Saints' seventh signing of the transfer window.

“It’s very good to be a part of this club. I was looking for a good club and for something new in my career. After spending two years on loan, I needed something permanent and a club with a future – and I think I chose the right one." he told the club's official website.

The 23-year-old is likely to act as back-up to Victor Wanyama and Jordy Clasie for the holding midfield role.
