Chris Coleman will be staying at Real Sociedad despite rumours linking the Welshman with a move to the Premiership with Newcastle. The ex-Fulham boss has also been linked with a number of Championship jobs.

  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • "He has said that he is excited," said Badiola. "It was simply a case of not understanding each other well.

"He thinks he should have more say in decisions about new signings but now we are going to follow a new model."

Pako Ayesteran has been brought in to advise Coleman on potential recruitment: "If he convinces us, perfect," he added. "I reiterated to Coleman, though, that our plans will take a direction that I hope excites him.

"How can we change our plans if we have the backing of 71.6 per cent of our shareholders?"
