McClaren: i'd take Eng job

11 January 2008 - 11:45

Steve McClaren has admitted that if he was offered the England job again he would take it straight away. McClaren's terrible reign in the job has left him with "unfinished business".

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • "If the England job was offered to me tomorrow, I'd take it again," the former Middlesbrough and England boss said.

"There is bound to be a feeling of unfinished business with England. First, I have got to rebuild again, wherever that may be.

"I have got to start from a different point and off we go again. I want my next job to be challenging and ambitious and allow me to get back to the top.

"The 18 months in the England job taught me a lot. I learned lessons and gained experience.

"Going through all that adversity, I know I am a better manager for that.

"I've worked at the top, I know how to manage, I've been successful and I know I can do it again. I am more ready to take on the challenge than 18 months ago.

"I believe I had grown into the England job. I just ran out of time. But I still believe I can manage at the top level."
