Newcastle United are reportedly mulling over a January move for Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
The 23-year-old has struggled for form this season and this has coincided with the Swans' poor spell in the league.
According to The Mail, Magpies boss Steve McClaren is a huge admirer of the player's talents, and has requested the board to launch a winter bid for his services.
It is added that the Swans will command an appreciable bid for the England international considering he inked a four-year extension in the summer.
Shelvey will miss this weekend's fixture against former club Liverpool through suspension.
