Barca decide against Nolito move

Barcelona end Nolito pursuit

11 March 2016 - 10:24

Barcelona have reportedly cooled down their interest in Arsenal target and Celta Vigo attacker Nolito, sporting director Robert Fernandez claims.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Bournemouth star
  • Real Madrid planning mega swoop for Chelsea star
  • The Spain international was believed to be on his way to Camp Nou this winter after he snubbed advances from several Premier League clubs.

However, things did not turn out as planned with Celta themselves vying for a top-six finish in La Liga.

Fernandez has now revealed that the Catalan giants are no longer in the running for the 29-year-old forward, and have now decided to pursue an 'unnamed' player.

"The situation during the winter market didn't work out favorably for us in the end," he told reporters.

"We felt at one point that the signing was going to materialize and in the end things took a turn and the move wasn't viable. Celta's position finally was a factor in the move not going through."

"Now conditions in the market have changed and we find ourselves in a position perusing a different player."

Nolito, who is currently rated at £12m, spent three years at Barcelona between 2008 and 2011.
