Everton manager Roberto Martinez is keen on wrapping up a summer deal for Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick. The 34-year-old is in the final months of his contract at Old Trafford, and talks have stalled regarding a contract extension.
Carrick has been a consistent performer for the Red Devils since his move from Tottenham Hotspur nearly a decade ago.
The Mirror suggests that the Toffees could be the first side to make an approach for the England international, who has expressed his desire to stay put at Manchester.
London giants Arsenal have also been credited with interest for the combative midfielder.
United are expected to have discussions with the player before the close of the season.
