Samuel Umtiti talks up Lyon stay

French defender Samuel Umtiti appears to be content at Lyon, according to his representative. The 22-year-old has been in impressive touch for the Ligue 1 side this season, and this has attracted interest from top European clubs.

  • Umtiti has developed his gameplay at Les Gones in recent seasons, and this has kept his stock high in the transfer market.

    Yannick, the brother and agent of Samuel, has now revealed that the player is eager to stay put at his present club as he seeks to be make himself a regular with the France national side.

    "Samuel does not have a strong desire to leave the club," he told Eurosport.

    "He operates in favourable conditions with regards to playing time, a staff that trusts him and a president who love him.

    "Samuel has high goals for the club and wants to be integrated into the France national team."

    Umtiti has yet to earn a senior cap with Les Bleus.
