Manchester United defender Chris Smalling is regarded as one among the top targets for West Ham United ahead of the summer transfer window. The England international has been in good form for the Red Devils despite their average run in the league this season.
Smalling was on the radar of several Premier League clubs last summer , but United boss Louis van Gaal was never keen on his sale.
Since then, the 26-year-old has played a pivotal role in the club's chase for Champions League football thereby proving his worth in the Red Devils shirt.
A report from The Brentwood Gazette claims that the Hammers are eager to bring in a quality defender to their ranks ahead of their switch to the Olympic Stadium.
Adding to this, Smalling is regarded as the perfect fit for the position and the club are willing to pay as much as £20m for his signature.
The talented centre-back was recently voted as Manchester United's Players' Player of the Year.
