With Alan Stubbs agreeing a 3 year deal to become Rotherham's new Head Coach, Hibs are now bracing themselves to fend off interest in star striker Jason Cummings.
As Leann Dempster and the Hibs board thrash out compensation with their counterparts at the South Yorkshire club and begin the search for a successor to Stubbs, there is a growing concern amongst the Hibs hierarchy that their Scottish Cup winning team will be dismantled, with leading goalscorer Cummings a prime target. With 36 goals in 82 league appearances, the 20 year old has been touted for a big money move to both Wolves and Rangers in recent months and with Stubbs set to depart the Easter Road hotseat, Cummings may be tempted to follow suit.
Since making his debut in November 2013, the Edinburgh-born hitman has become a fans favourite and the Hibs supporters are fearful that Stubbs will seek an instant reunion with Cummings at the New York Stadium. An approach would likely lead to a bidding war for one of Scottish football's hottest properties and as was the case with Stubbs, Hibs will likely face a losing battle to retain his services. A bid in the region of £1 million will test their resolve and just over a fortnight after ending their 114 year wait to lift the Scottish Cup, Hibs could be tasked with replacing both their Head Coach and key striker as they look to seal a return to the Scottish Premier League next term.
