Valencia continue to lose

20 January 2008 - 23:17

Valencia's poor run of results under Dutch boss Ronald Koeman continued today, as Villarreal notched up an impressive 3-0 victory to help the Yellow Submarines move up to third in La Liga.

  • Arsenal & Man Utd handed boost in signing French star
  • Man Utd planning to replace Erik ten Hag after FA Cup final

  • Robert Pires gave the Yellow Submarine an early lead against Valencia and second-half efforts by Joan Capdevila and Nihat completed the rout.

Valencia, who have slipped to seventh in the table, have failed to win any of their last ten matches in all competitions and have not scored in nine of those games.

Meanwhile, Sevilla slipped to their seventh defeat in ten matches on their travels in a thrilling encounter at Getafe.

Sevilla actually took the lead through Luis Fabiano but Francisco Casquero equalised just after the half-hour mark and Juan Albin put Getafe ahead.

Ivica Dragutinovic looked to have earned Sevilla a point when he grabbed a late leveller for the visitors, but Getafe claimed all three points when Cosmin Contra headed the winner deep into stoppage time.
