Lewandowski to snub Real Madrid and sign new Bayern Munich deal

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is set to sign a new contract with the Bundesliga champions, snubbing interest from Real Madrid, according to reports in Germany.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Bild is reporting that Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is set to put pen to paper on a new five-year contract at the Allianz Arena, committing his future to Bayern Munich despite interest from European Champions Real Madrid.

Lewandowski joined Bayern from rivals Borussia Dortmund on a Bosman free transfer in the summer of 2014, and has since confirmed his status as one of the very best strikers in the world as he has been the Bavarian’s top scorer in each of his two seasons with the club, netting more than 40 goals in all competitions last season, as well as finishing at the highest scorer in the Bundesliga, ahead of Dortmund star Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in making Lewandowski their latest Galactico signing, as they view the 28-year-old as having the requisite ability as well as the level of star power to boost their side on the field and commercial aspirations off it.

However, Madrid have been levied with a transfer ban by FIFA for their irregular dealing in signing young players. This means that, as it stands, Los Blancos will be unable to register any new players until 2018, although the eleven time champions of Europe plan to contest the ruling.
