I was forced out of Man Utd - Nani

23 September 2016 - 12:58

Valencia attacker Nani believes that he was pushed through the exit door at Manchester United. The Portugal international ended his association with the Red Devils in 2015.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • Nani fell out-of-favour upon Louis van Gaal's arrival at Old Trafford in 2014, and he was therein shipped to Sporting Lisbon on a season-long loan.

He sealed a permanent move to Fenerbahce in the season which followed where he impressed throughout the campaign.

Nani was influential to Portugal's Euro 2016 triumph in the summer, and this linked him with a possible return to Manchester before he sealed his switch to Los Che.

While speaking to ESPN, Nani insisted that he had no intention of leaving his beloved club (United) but the lack of playing time meant that he had to take a chance with a fresh side.

"I wanted to stay there, but I wanted to play," he told ESPN.

"When I joined, the idea was that I would play as often as possible, but that did not happen. So I took my decision and chose to be happy, to enjoy life and football. I was very happy with my decision."

Nani appeared in 230 outings for Manchester United between 2007 and 2015 where he won four Premier League titles and the Champions League.
