Tottenham chase Puyol

Tottenham are reportedly ready to make an offer for Barcelona defender Carles Puyol. The sensational rumour has not yet been confirmed by Spurs, but is believed to be worth around £20 million.

With Spurs already reportedly close to completing a deal for Jonathan Woodgate from Newcastle, there is a possibility that Puyol will be signed as a partner or a right-back for the London club.



Nevertheless, the rumours have yet to be confirmed, but there does seem to be some weight behind this rumour as Juande Ramos has often praised Puyol as "the best defender in Spain." Tottenham are also believed to still be interested in Espanyol player Dani Jarque.
