Fulham want Barnetta

Fulham want Barnetta

26 January 2008 - 11:42

Fulham are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta. The Swiss international midfielder, 22, is regarded in his country as one of the best players and has impressed since joining Leverkusen in 2005 from Hannover.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has already been active in the football transfer window, and Barnetta is wanted to add some attacking flair to Fulham's side.

The Swiss international has been at Leverkusen for two years and has been a regular since joining. Barnetta is looking forward to the Euro 2008 tournament in his homeland where many are tipping him to be the major light for the Swiss side.

Barnetta was named as one of the shortlisted players for the tournament's Best Young Player award in the World Cup in 2006.

Leverkusen are reportedly ready to listen to offers, but Fulham may have to pay up to £5 million to land the Swiss international.
