Man Utd to reward Jesse Lingard with fresh contract

Manchester United are set to offer a new long-term contract to Jesse Lingard following his excellent progress over the past year. The 23-year-old's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2018.

  • The England international is most fondly remembered for his FA Cup winner over Crystal Palace last term which ended United's three-year wait for a trophy.

According to The Mail, the attacker is closing in on a fresh four-year deal which will see him earn double of his current salary of £30,000-a-week.

The Red Devils have been holding discussions with the player's representative in recent weeks, and they are keen to avoid him from entering the final year of his contract.

Lingard has netted eight goals in exactly 50 games for Manchester United in all competitions. He has also earned two caps for England with his debut coming against Malta earlier last month.
