Gilberto ready for Spurs

Hertha Berlin defender Gilberto looks set to join Tottenham on Monday afternoon for a fee of around £2.3 million after the player agreed terms with the White Hart Lane outfit on Sunday afternoon after a meeting in London with club directors.

Berlin's coach Lucien Favre confirmed the 31-year-old was in the English capital at the weekend and the 27-times capped Brazilian looks set to join Spurs for a reported figure of three million euros (4.4 million US dollars).



Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has been short of options in defence due to injuries and Gilberto's expected arrival should provide cover for Wales defender Gareth Bale, who is out for up to three months with an injured foot.
