Ajax sign Kuffour

Ajax sign Kuffour

28 January 2008 - 18:59

Ajax Amsterdam have taken a chance on Ghanaian defender Samuel Kuffour after bringing him on a six month loan deal after AS Roma agreed to let him go. The defender famously played for Bayern Munich against Man Utd in the Champions League final in 1999.

  • The 31-year-old, who despite winning 59 caps is not part of Ghana's African Cup of Nations campaign on home soil, has agreed a six-month contract with an option for a further two seasons. Ajax moved for Kuffour as a replacement for Jaap Stam, who retired suddenly in October.

He is the fourth player signed by Ajax this January, after Kenneth Pérez, Bruno Silva and Rasmus Lindgren.
