Ajax Amsterdam have taken a chance on Ghanaian defender Samuel Kuffour after bringing him on a six month loan deal after AS Roma agreed to let him go. The defender famously played for Bayern Munich against Man Utd in the Champions League final in 1999.
The 31-year-old, who despite winning 59 caps is not part of Ghana's African Cup of Nations campaign on home soil, has agreed a six-month contract with an option for a further two seasons. Ajax moved for Kuffour as a replacement for Jaap Stam, who retired suddenly in October.
He is the fourth player signed by Ajax this January, after Kenneth Pérez, Bruno Silva and Rasmus Lindgren.
