Gabbiadini is set to leave Napoli

Saints After Gabbiadini

24 January 2017 - 14:31

Southampton have entered into negotiations with Napoli over a possible move for Italian striker Manolo Gabbiadini.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Serie A club are currently standing firm on their £17 million evaluation of the attacker, however The Saints are said to be willing to only offer in the region of £13 million. It is not only the Premier League side that are interested, with Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach also looking into the possibilty off a move.

The 25 year old has made nineteen appearances in all competitions so far this season for Napoli, with a return of five goals. He is a versatile player, with the ability to play in a wide attacking role as well as a central role, which allow him to put his strength and pace to good use. Gabbiadini signed for Napoli in January 2015, but looks set to leave Stadio San Paolo just two years later, with a number of well respected clubs asking about his availability.

Southampton currently sit in eleventh position in the English Premier League, having scored twenty two goals in as many games. Acquiring a striker of Gabbiadini's quality would be a boost to the side, as they look to convert more of their chances, with the hope of pushing into the top half
