Turkish giants Fenerbahce are plotting a surprise swoop for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil during the summer transfer window.
The German international has previously expressed his love for Istanbul and hinted that he would welcome the prospect of joining Fener in the future.
Ozil has been in a contract standoff with the Gunners since the backend of the previous campaign, and it is understood the club would be tempted to sell with him approaching the final year of his contract.
According to The Mirror, Fener are the latest club to throw their name in the hat as they seek to lure Ozil, who has a huge fan following in Istanbul.
The World Cup winner has been off-colour for the Gunners since the turn of the year with injuries combined with illness affecting his chances of cementing a regular role in the matchday squad.
He is said to currently demand a salary of around £250,000-a-week, and the Gunners' hierarchy are reluctant to even come close to the sum.
