Berahino speaks about drugs ban

Berahino's time at West Brom didn't end well

Berahino speaks about drugs ban

Stoke City striker Saido Berahino has spoken out about the ban that he received earlier this season after failing a drugs test.

  • Berahino, who was playing for West Bromwich Albion at the time, was banned for eight weeks earlier in the season. The ban was not known about by the public at the time, as the striker was not being played anyway. When the English attacker moved to fellow Premier League team Stoke City in January, the story was leaked to the press.

Speaking to BBC Sport, the former England under 21 man has now spoken out publicly about the suspension. He explains that whilst on a night out, his drink was spiked in a nightclub, leading to a substance being identified in a later drugs test. Stoke's newest striker feels hard done by with the ban he was issued, stating that "to be banned for something you really haven't done is hard to take."

Since making the move to Stoke, Berahino has made six Premier League appearances for the club and is still looking for his first goal for the Potters.
