Middlesbrough demand £30 million for star defender

Middlesbrough want £30 million for Ben Gibson

Middlesbrough demand £30 million for star defender

31 March 2017 - 12:34

Middlesbrough have struggled on their return to the Premier League this season. Currently in the relegation zone and without a permanent manager, things aren't looking good at the Riverside, but that hasn't stopped Ben Gibson impressing and catching the eye of the teams at the other end of the table.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Gibson's fine form in his debut Premier League campaign has seen him linked with a move away from Middlesbrough, which will be made even more likely if they fail to avoid relegation to the Championship at the end of the season. The 24 year was also given his first England call up in Gareth Southgate's most recent international squad selection.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and West Ham are all said to be interested in Gibson, although 'Boro's asking price may see that list narrowed. The Evening Standard reports that Middlesbrough will be looking to receive around £30 million if they are to allow Ben Gibson to leave.

The defender is said to be near the top of Arsenal's list of players that they will look to bring in over the summer, as a complete overhaul of the squad is expected, as they look to challenge for the Premier League once again.
