Michael Carrick has won it all during his Manchester United career, but at thirty five years old, his time at Old Trafford may be coming to an end. Reports today suggest that he will leave the club at the end of the season, with newly promoted Newcastle United a possible destination.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Newcastle United have won promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt, after being relegated the previous year. Despite performing well in the Championship, there is no doubt that they will need to strengthen if they are to survive in their first season back in the top flight.

The Sun today reports that Carrick wants to remain in the Premier League, and he may well be lining up a move back to his hometown. To add to the attraction of going back home, the report also claims that Carrick is in the process of building a new house in the area.

Since emerging from the West Ham academy, Michael Carrick has had a great career, which has included over a decade with Manchester United. He is rated by many as one of the best passers of the ball in the Premier League and could certainly bring a lot of quality to the likes of Newcastle.
