Fenerbahce in Mesut Ozil talks

02 May 2017 - 05:19

Turkish giants Fenerbahce have held initial negotiations with the representatives of midfielder Mesut Ozil ahead of his potential exit from Arsenal this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The German international has looked out of sorts for most of the campaign, and it is suggested that the Gunners are reluctant to offer him a fresh deal unless he lowers his wage demands.

Ozil, currently on a &pound140,000 weekly package, is said to want fees in excess of &pound250,000, and this is something the club are unlikely to table in the near future.

According to Fotospor, Fener are in talks over a proposed move for Ozil, who has iterated his desire to play in Istanbul in the latter stages of his career.

However, the Super Lig 1 are restricted from spending big due to the Financial Fair Play regulations, and this could hinder their pursuit with the Gunners likely to demand a &pound35m plus sum.

Ozil, 28, has had his best goalscoring season (10) in an Arsenal shirt this term, but it is his zero act against the big teams which has brought a sense of frustration among the club's faithful.
