Edinson Cavani open to Napoli return

Cavani eyeing future Napoli comeback

Edinson Cavani open to Napoli return

08 May 2017 - 17:44

Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is open to the prospect of returning to Napoli before calling quits on his professional career.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Uruguay international featured for the Naples outfit between 2010 and 2013 before he moved on to Paris Saint-Germain.

Cavani, 30, has since kept up his goalscoring form for Les Parisiens, and this recently earned him a new long-term contract at Parc des Princes.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Cavani insisted that he would like to return to Napoli in the future and then choose to retire from the game in his home nation.

"After PSG, I don't know what will happen but if I will want to change team I may choose to return to Napoli and then go back home, " he said.

"I don't want to go back home when I will be too old, I would like to retire when I decide so rather than football leaving me."

Cavani has stood out with his performances this season after having earned the centre-forward role following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Despite his impressive tally of 47 goals across all competitions, Paris Saint-Germain look set to miss out on the Ligue 1 crown with Monaco needing just a win to secure the title.
