Manchester United will reportedly seek to offer goalkeeper David de Gea a new bumper deal in order to ward off interest from long-time admirers Real Madrid.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Spain international was on the cusp of a move to the Bernabeu in 2015, but a delayed transmission of paperwork scuppered the deal on deadline day.

De Gea therein inked a fresh four-year contract with the Mancunian giants with the option of an additional 12 months, but this has not quelled speculation over his next move.

According to The Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils will table a new contract with a significant pay rise in order to persuade De Gea to stay put at the North-West outfit.

Jose Mourinho's team stand a chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League by lifting the Europa League crown, and this could be the sole route to keeping hold of their leading performer.

De Gea has been named in the PFA Team of the Year for a third time in a row following a string of impressive performances for Manchester United over the course of the season.
