Napoli attacker Dries Mertens is set to turn down a summer move to Manchester United in order to prolong his stay with the Naples outfit.
Earlier in March, the Belgium international was linked with a proposed switch to Old Trafford with United officials deemed to have met up with the player to discuss a contractual package.
According to The Sun, the 30-year-old will snub advances from the Red Devils in the summer with Napoli having agreed to match his wage demands.
Mertens already has four years left on his present deal. but despite this, Napoli have been urged to discussed an improved contract following a standout season with the Serie A club.
The former PSV star has reveled in the centre-forward this season after having amassed 30 goals across all competitions for the Italian giants.
Mertens is also a regular with the Belgian national sideĀ and he will look to maintain his chances of a starting role ahead of next year's World Cup in Russia.
