Koeman expects Lukaku stay

Everton boss confident of Romelu Lukaku stay

21 May 2017 - 05:17

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is seemingly confident that Romelu Lukaku will stay put at Goodison Park after having received no potential offers for his services.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The Belgium international opened the door for a fresh move earlier in the year after he snubbed negotiations over a new contract beyond 2019.

Since then, Lukaku has been linked with likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, but Koeman admits that there has not been any contract from any of his suitors.

"I expect that Lukaku will stay because until now I did not hear anything from the board that one club is asking about Lukaku," he is quoted as saying on The Mirror, from his press conference.

Lukaku has enjoyed his best return in the Premier League with 24 goals this season, but he is still regarded as an inconsistent striker after having failed to make his mark against the bigger clubs.

The 23-year-old has netted more than a goal a game since his arrival from Stamford Bridge, but he may have to wait a while to realise his dream of playing Champions League football.
