Hazard waiting for Chelsea extension

Eden Hazard yet to earn fresh Chelsea contract

29 May 2017 - 05:15

Belgium international Eden Hazard has revealed that he is yet to discuss terms over a new contract despite the ongoing speculation about his Stamford Bridge future.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The 26-year-old put up a stellar showing for the Blues during the 2016/17 season as his 15 goals and five assists played a key role in attaining the Premier League title.

As a result, the former Lille man has attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but he insists that he is still content at west London club.

Hazard also jokingly said that his proposed extension could end the Blues' pursuit of compatriot Romelu Lukaku as the club would not have sufficient funds to push through the move.

"At this moment, there's nothing on the table. We're waiting for the end of the season. I'm still calm. We will talk. If not, then we'll see," he told Belgian source Het Nieuwsblad.

"If I sign a new contract, there may not be enough money left to get Romelu! No, I'm kidding. Whoever comes, we will be ready for the new season."

Despite a top Premier League campaign, Hazard failed to show up in the FA Cup final against Arsenal last weekend, which his side eventually lost by a 2-1 scoreline.

Hazard has made nearly 250 appearances for the Premier League holders since arriving from French club Lille back in the summer of 2012.
