van Dijk keen on Liverpool move

05 June 2017 - 22:35

Virgil van Dijk is fast becoming one of the most wanted players by the Premier League's top clubs this summer, as they plot to challenge for the title again next season. A number of clubs are said to be in the race to sign the Dutch defender, but reports suggest today that van Dijk in keen on a move to Liverpool.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Southampton have insisted that they have no need to sell their defender this summer, with plenty of time left on his contract and with the club sitting in a comfortable financial position. Now, however, BBC Sport reports that van Dijk himself is interested in a move away, particularly in one that would see him join Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

A deal is still a long way off, with The Saints certain to get as much money as they possibly can if they have to sell him, and his former club Celtic also due 10 percent of his next transfer. It is believed that Liverpool would have to pay well in excess of £50 million if a deal is to be done, but they will have renewed belief that a deal can be done with van Dijk preferring a move to Anfield.
