Preview: England vs Switzerland

Preview: England vs Switzerland

06 February 2008 - 17:17

Fabio Capello's first game as England manager begins tonight in a friendly against Switzerland.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • There will be a lot of pressure on Fabio and his men tonight as there are huge expectations surrounding this game especially from the press.

Capello has responded to these statements:

"I'm not a Messiah, I'm just someone who tries to reap results through hard work," said the England coach.

"What I'll try to pass on to the team is a winning mentality and being confident in their own abilities.

"I can't perform miracles in three days. The important thing is to create a good group."

Capello has already reinforced his "no nonsense rules", including dropping Beckham, dropping Owen to the bench, not allowing the "WAGS" into the hotel, no mobile phones, no golf, no flip flops in the hotel and players must eat as a "group".

Tonight is the night that a lot of England fans have been waiting for, what squad will he choose? Will he make a difference?

Well from what we know so far he has already changed the team slightly, dropping Owen to the bench, playing bentley on the right, Upson at centre-half and Wes Brown as full back.

Tonight is expected to be an enthalling fixture, with England (hopefully) going full out and for once showing some passion.

    Squads to follow later.
