AS Roma eyeing deal for Man United full-back

Darmian on the move?

AS Roma eyeing deal for Man United full-back

19 June 2017 - 04:59

Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian could make a return to the Serie A just two years after his arrival from Torino.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Italy international enjoyed a good first season under former boss Louis van Gaal where he notched 39 appearances across all competitions.

However, his second year was rather dull with just 15 starts in the Premier League, although he did receive praise for his impressive showing in the second half of the season.

United currently have two fit left-backs in their ranks in Daley Blind and Darmian but the injury return of Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw could restrict the Italian's playing time next season.

As a result, Roma are looking to take advantage, with Corriere dello Sport suggesting that the Giallorossi will lodge an attempt to bring him back to Italy.

Darmian has two more years left on his United deal and the Europa League holders could be expecting a similar sum (£14m) to what they paid to Torino back in the summer of 2015.
