ONeill warns Keegan

O'Neill warns Keegan

07 February 2008 - 22:13

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has warned Newcastle boss Kevin Keegan that there are several improving sides in the Premiership that have changed the gap between Newcastle and the big sides in the Premiership.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Man Utd serious about signing Rafael Leao
  • "It's great for Newcastle that Kevin is back," O’Neill told Sky Sports.

"We live in a football world of instant gratification and Kevin will be aware that this resurgence will not happen overnight. It will take some time.

"As Kevin said, he wants to be judged after several months in the job. What is obvious with Kevin and Newcastle is he will get time.

"He is a passionate manager and he was an excellent player. His first period in charge was very, very exciting.

"I am sure that his pledge is to bring back those glory days.

"Football has changed. Newcastle were able to compete with Manchester United at that time because they could vie for the very best players in England, Europe and even world football."
