van der Sar rejects coach role

Edwin van der Sar has rejected the opportunity to become Man Utd's new goalkeeping coach as of next season. van der Sar is keen to continue playing for United and isn't certain of his future plans yet.

  • United need to replace Tony Coton, who is quitting this summer with a serious knee injury.Boss Alex Ferguson has spoken to current No1 Van der Sar but the 37-year-old Dutchman wants to concentrate on his playing career.



    Fergie said: "It's not an easy appointment. Edwin wants to continue playing and doesn't know what he wants to do when he retires."
