Rafa blames rift with owners

Rafa blames rift with owners

10 February 2008 - 10:23

Rafa Benitez has blamed Liverpool's recent slump in form on his relationship with American duo George Gillett and Tom Hicks. The duo sounded out Jurgen Klinsmann over a future role at the club and argued with Benitez over transfer policy and funding.

  • Man Utd without four players for Bournemouth clash
  • Liam Rosenior on Enzo Fernandez's Chelsea future
  • "What is evident is that back at that time we were in a great position and the team was in shape to win many of the games which we eventually drew," told Benitez.

"So the entire process is what allowed the gap to open between us and the leaders.

"If I wanted, I have the perfect excuse. The only solution I have is to try to bury myself in my work."
