Bruce confident of survival

Bruce confident of survival

10 February 2008 - 16:53

Wigan boss Steve Bruce is confident his side will retain their Premiership status at the end of the season despite slumping to a loss against relegation rivals Sunderland on Saturday.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • "Sometimes the game is cruel. We did enough there for me to win the game," he said.

"I cannot see why the referee gave a foul for the free-kick (which resulted in the first goal) and then the second goal is a wonder goal, isn't it? 'You just scratch your head then and think it is not going to be your day.

"But we missed chance after chance after chance. We didn't score so we go away empty-handed. You scratch your head and wonder why.

"But certainly from what I have seen there today, if we keep playing like that, I am convinced we will be all right.

"We played with a great spirit and attitude and for me we were the better team but lost 2-0."
