Manchester United plan fresh David de Gea contract

De Gea in line for contract extension

Manchester United plan fresh David de Gea contract

25 September 2017 - 08:08

Manchester United are reportedly looking into a deal for goalkeeper David de Gea amid the continuous interest from Real Madrid.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The Spain international joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid back in the summer of 2011 and has since established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in world football.

According to The Independent, the Mancunian giants will hold talks on a contract extension in the coming weeks as they plan to commit De Gea to a new long-term contract.

De Gea will have just a year left on his contract at the end of the 2017/18 season, and United are aware that this could potentially tempt Los Blancos into lodging an offer.

The 26-year-old previously came on the cusp of joining Los Blancos back in the summer of 2015, but his move was scuppered after the paperwork was not delivered prior to the transfer deadline.

Despite the disappointment, De Gea has continued in the same vein of form at Old Trafford, and he remains crucial to their chances of lifting the Premier League title this season.
