Craig Shakespeare has been relieved from his managerial role at Leicester City just four months after penning a permanent deal with the club.
The Foxes have endured a tough spell in the Premier League this term, and they are presently third from the bottom with no victories from their last six games.
Shakespeare initially succeeded former boss Claudio Ranieri in an interim role in February this year, and he was offered the permanent job after he guided the Foxes away from trouble to a 12th-place finish.
The club's hierarchy made the decision to sack Shakespeare following the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion last night, and this has now been made official.
"Leicester City Football Club has today (Tuesday) parted company with its First Team Manager, Craig Shakespeare," a statement on the club's official website read.
Meanwhile, a report from BBC Sport suggests that the club's players had received no information prior to the manager's dismissal, and the news was only heard through the media.
Michael Appleton is expected to takeover as the caretaker manager with the Foxes stepping their pursuit for a new head coach who could salvage their disappointing season thus far.
