Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has urged his fellow teammates to go for League Cup glory following their 2-1 triumph over Everton in the fourth round.

  • The Germany international bagged his maiden goal for the Blues in the midweek game, and he is now keen to go the distance as it is the fastest route to attaining silverware.

"You can win a trophy, so you have to be motivated. It was a big chance as well for young players like Ampadu, Musonda and Kenedy," he is quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"Everyone has to be motivated and for our club this is the fastest way to win something, so we have to go for it."

The Blues will now shift their attention to the weekend league game against Bournemouth, whom they also face in the quarter-final of the League Cup in mid-December.

Chelsea are presently nine points behind table-toppers Manchester City, and they will have to go on a long winning streak if they are to become the first club since Manchester United in 2009 to retain the English crown.

Rudiger, 24, has managed 12 appearances for the Premier League holders since arriving from AS Roma for an initial £29m fee in the summer.
