Rafa Benitez discusses Newcastle transfer plans

02 April 2018 - 04:33

Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has discussed his plans for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Toon Army look to have secured their Premier League status for another year; but Benitez is known to be unhappy with their lack of signings in recent times.

  • Chelsea to face League One club in FA Cup quarter-final
  • Man Utd to sign Chelsea star Andrey Santos?
  • Off-the-field uncertainties regarding the club's ownership has left the Toon Army in a position where they cannot afford to pay top dollar for players and Spanish coach Benitez is unhappy with recent progress on the transfer market.

“It’s not always a question of money,” said Benitez. “That doesn’t always make the difference when it comes to signing the players you need.

“In January, when we were talking, we said we needed a goalkeeper, a winger and a striker, and that is what we did and you can see the difference. It is about doing the right things at the right time.”

There remains uncertainty over the future of club captain Jamaal Lascelles, who has been linked with a host of other Premier League teams in recent days.
