Mubarak Wakaso wanted by Newcastle United

Ghanaian international midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has been linked with a transfer to Premier League club Newcastle United. According to a report fro Ghana, the 27-year-old is highly rated by Newcastle scouts and a transfer move will be made for the Deportivo Alaves star this summer.

  • Wakaso has been somewhat of a journeyman throughout his career, having started his career with Elche in Spain; before making a move to Villarreal, Las Palmas, Espanyol and Granada at some point. Brief stints at Russian club Rubin Kazan fand Greek giants Panathinaikos followed, before returning to Spain with his current club Alaves.

    The powerful defensive midfielder is reportedly wanted by Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez to add defensive mettle to his squad having guaranteed another season's survival in the Premier League, with a victory over Arsenal at the weekend.

    Wakaso has represented the Ghana national side over 50 times and is desperate to make a move to England to prove he can compete in the Premier League.
