Manchester United have reportedly edged closer to the signing of Fred from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk. The 25-year-old is likely to become the club's first signing of the summer transfer window.
Fred has been linked with both United and neighbours Manchester City over the past few months but the former have jumped ahead in the midfielder's pursuit in recent weeks.
According to The Mail, the Brazilian is expected to have a medical with the Red Devils next week ahead of his proposed transfer which will cost an initial £52m fee.
The Brazil international is presently in England for Sunday's international friendly against Croatia at Anfield and United are likely to take this opportunity to finalise his proposed switch.
Fred was impressive during Shakhtar's progress from the Champions League group stage last term and he contributed one goal and one assist during the process.Â
The midfielder has yet to confirm whether he would be joining Jose Mourinho's side but he has been providing hints on social media regarding the move which is close to completion.
