Mendieta wants place back

23 August 2007 - 10:51

Middlesbrough's Spanish midfielder Gaizka Mendieta has vowed to win his place back in the Middlesbrough side. The Spaniard has yet to play a game for the club in 2007 after an injury,

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Mendieta has now claimed that he is 100 percent fit and ready to battle for a first team spot. The ex-Valencia player was told he could leave the club and moves to the USA and back to Spain failed to be completed.

Valladolid were linked with a move for the player who could leave on a free, but his wages appeared to have been a stumbling block.

Now Mendieta has announced he will fight for his first team place and stay at the club.
