Reds end Shaqiri interest

Liverpool make their decision on Xherdan Shaqiri

17 June 2018 - 11:05

Liverpool have reportedly ended their ongoing interest in Stoke City's Xherdan Shaqiri and are now prepared to look at alternatives to bolster their attack front.

  • Chelsea prepare mega money bid for Alex Scott
  • Arsenal get green light to sign Atletico striker
  • The Reds have been heavily linked with Shaqiri over the past few weeks and reports even suggested that they could pursue the Swiss following his return from the summer World Cup.

However, Sky Sports News now claims that Jurgen Klopp has decided against a potential £12m deal for the Switzerland international and wants to look upon other options before the transfer deadline.

Liverpool have secured just the signing of Fabinho from AS Monaco this summer and the Brazilian is expected to act as a straight replacement for Emre Can, who will be leaving on a Bosman.

Meanwhile, their pursuit of Lyon's Fekir was scuppered at the final hurdle amid concerns over the Frenchman's injury record. The Reds had initially agreed on a £53m sum for the attacker before doubts crept in regarding the move.
