ONeill ready for Arsenal

O'Neill ready for Arsenal

29 February 2008 - 00:10

Martin O'Neill is ready for the weekend's clash with Arsenal and Aston Villa, and the Villains coach feels that the Gunners will still be a threat despite the long-term injury of Croatian striker Eduardo.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • "Arsenal have been able for quite a number of seasons now to be able to focus on the job in hand," O'Neill said.

"It is not that difficult for them to be able to shift focus from Premier League matches to Champions League games.

"Arsenal have been doing it so often it is becoming almost second nature to them. I would love to say that they would take their eye off the ball against us but it won't happen.

"They have been first or second in the Premier League all season and I don't see them taking it easy against us. That and the Champions League are two competitions that they prize greatly.

"They have also got the squad to cope with the demands despite the horrific injury to Eduardo.

"If they pick up suspensions and injuries during the course of the season they have a squad capable of dealing with it so I don't see it as being a major problem for them."
