Klopp gives on signing a new goalkeeper

Jurgen Klopp ends goalkeeper pursuit?

01 July 2018 - 11:50

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly given up on signing a new shot-stopper for the summer and he is prepared to stick with Loris Karius as his number one for next season.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Merseyside outfit have been heavily tipped to recruit a new shot-stopper since Karius' double blunder in the Champions League final last term but so far they have made little progress towards the same.

As such, The Sun reports that Klopp has postponed the search for a new keeper until next summer meaning that Karius is likely to start between the sticks during pre-season.

Meanwhile, the move could also mean that both Simon Mignolet and Danny Ward will stay put at the club next season despite the former admitting his frustration over the lack of gametime.

Alisson Becker from AS Roma had been noted as the club's prime target for the summer transfer window but they have been put off by his £70m price tag as well as the added interest from Real Madrid.
