Colombia's star player James Rodriguez could still be fit to play England in the World Cup last 16 game on Tuesday evening. The talented Bayern Munich man injured himself and came off in the South American team's last game, but coach Jose Pekerman has revealed Rodriguez could be fit to play.

  • The 26-year-old suffered an injury in the qualifying game against Senegal last week but has responded well to training and has been taking part in games prior to the tie with England.

"We had good news after his medical tests. After his MRI (scan) we knew that he doesn't have a serious injury," said Colombia coach Jose Pekerman.

"We still have one-and-a-half days to see how he feels, and as always we hope that he will be able to play in the following games."

The winner of the England versus Colombia tie will then go on to play either Switzerland or Sweden in the quarter finals of the World Cup.
