Klose gives Bayern victory

Klose gives Bayern victory

01 March 2008 - 23:37

Bayern Munich defeated Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga on Saturday thanks to German international striker Miroslav Klose's first goal in over three months.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • As Klose ran toward the goal mouth just ahead of three defenders, Franck Ribery's pass allowed the Germany forward to score his first goal since Nov. 24 and give Bayern its first win at Schalke in 10 years.

"It was typical of our away matches. We were very disciplined,'' Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn said. "As I've said, at the moment we are playing very close to our best.''

Schalke's third straight loss left it 12 points behind Bayern in sixth place and in danger of missing out on a Champions League berth.
